REAFFIRMATION OF PURPOSE
3.
From time to time, in a magazine of this sort, it becomes necessary to restate its purposes. New sub- scribers come into the group who may not have read ear- lier issues, and non-TV, persons may pick up one issue at random who may never see another. Thus each issue should reveal in simple and short form the intentions and methods of the publication.
TRANSVESTIA is the one publication devoted exclu- sively to the interests of persons to whom the cloth- ing of the opposite sex and the wearing of same pro- vide expression, exhileration and exhaltation. Such people make up our subscription lists, our contributors and our audience. Devotees of other forms of behavior may find our pages interesting but we do not intend to attempt to satisfy the interests of others. Homosex- uals male and female have their magazines, Bondage and punishment addicts can find plenty of literature. Thus TRANSVESTIA is for Transvestites.
The Popularity Poll conducted in TRANSVESTIA #4 (with results reported elsewhere in this issue) has, much to the satisfaction of the Editor, confirmed our believe that there were enough persons interested in the field of transvestism alone to support a small magazine devoted to their interests. To even the Editor's surprise there was more enthusiasm for art- icles on the means and methods impersonation than there was for stories on the subject. Feminine expression by males is therefore a more serious matter than some would think--not all fantasy and wishful thinking. This is a very fine thing to learn and will in time help to give clarification, dignity and tolerance to those males (or females) who find in cross-dressing a means of expressing personality facets that are unexpress- ible in the clothes of their real sex.
